Statement
The mission of the Highland Park Aquatics Club is to
provide a high quality competitive swim club for the District 113
community where swimmers of all levels may achieve personal and
athletic goals in a nurturing and challenging
environment.
HPAC
Philosophy
As we begin
the Highland Park Aquatics Club, the coaching staff would like to
share with you our philosophy based on our past competitive
swimming and coaching experience. We are excited to have you with
us as we begin our journey towards establishing ourselves as a
successful club that helps develop fast swimmers who are also good
citizens.
Overnight
success in swimming is rare. However, it is common to see athletes
who are loyal to a quality program achieving success that they
never imagined when they were younger. We believe in a positive
environment that looks for the success of our swimmers in the
long-run. We will not cut corners to achieve short-lived success,
if it compromises the long-term potential of our swimmers.
Swimmers who achieve "elite" status are typically those who take
part in year-round high-quality training because
they enjoy their training
environment. We believe that swimmers should be swimming for us
because they want to, and we
encourage our swimmers to take part in many activities and sports
when they are younger.
We offer
flexible training schedules for our youngest swimmers to encourage
participation in other activities. We strongly believe that
swimmers thrive in a setting where parents offer unconditional
support. We will promote that type of support every chance we
get. We believe in the value of our training time, and we
will use that time wisely. We believe in allowing each
swimmer to progress at his or her own rate of development. This
approach will not only result in swimmers who reach their potential
as athletes, but who also know how to adapt to a variety of
situations.
